Maintaining Server Equipment (Part 1)

The course provides information on the as-built documents and the location of SIC installed equipment in the server racks.

Description

The course will cover:

  • Refresh of what the SIC servers and functionality;
  • Explanation of as-built records;
  • Explanation of server maintenance requirements;
  • Explanation of how to identify defective equipment.
  • Identifying which VM`s are running on which physical servers
  • Identify bespoke functions and how they work (email reporting, Comms failure detection)
  • Identifying common faults and how to rectify

Prerequisites

Before attending the training, Delegates are expected to complete:

  • LTT Tideway Fault Recording;
  • Understanding Server and Control Room Operation.

It is recommended that Delegates complete:

  • LTT System Overview;
  • LTT SCADA - Basic Understanding;

This course is for

  • ICA and OT Engineers to attend.

Outcomes

The course will provide Delegates with an understanding of the as-built documents and the location of SIC installed equipment in the server racks.

On completion of the training, Delegates will be expected to:

  • Know how to locate the server equipment in the racks at Beckton (Admin and Desal);
  • Understand the as-built drawings and records;
  • Understand the SIC planned maintenance schedule for the equipment (VI, CI, SPI);
  • Understand how to identify defective equipment within a server rack;
  • Understand how to reset or replace equipment within a server rack;
  • Understand System Start Up and Shut Down procedures;
  • Understand Disaster Recovery Procedures;
  • Being able to re-build Network switch;
  • Being able to software patch the system to minimise operational impact;
  • Be able to create a completely new report;
  • Being able to add a new historical tag to the system;
  • Being able to Extract Data from the SCADA;
  • Being able to back up a system and recover it;
  • Understand bespoke functions and how they work (email reporting, Comms failure detection);
  • How to identify common faults and how to rectify.

Module 1 provides high level information on the main hardware elements of the LTT SCADA system, where they are located, how they are connected and their functionality. It also covers the system role of the Telemetry Panels. Module 2 provides information behind the design of the worksite Telemetry Panels and the difference between them and the worksite PLCs provided by the MWCs. The course also covers PLC functionality.
